OBITUARY
1242 SOMMERVILLE Charles O’Neil
Sadly we have to report on the passing of Neil on 20 September 2004.  Neil joined the Legion of Frontiersmen on 5 May 1956 at Taupo, and had been a member for 48 years.  He lived in the North Island all his younger life before joining the RNZAF and serving overseas for several years, returning in 1945.  Neil and Sheila moved to Christchurch to be closer to their family, where Neil played a major role in doing duties for ‘V’ Troop, holding office for several years.  He became a headquarters Staff Officer and was the RSM.  He was also Deputy Commandant for a short period.  Neil suffered ill-health for two months before being admitted to Ngaio Marsh Retirement Home where he passed.  Neil is survived by his wife Sheila and daughter Pat
