BIOGRAPHICAL
The late Frontiersman Fredric Henry Mussen first became a member of the Legion of Frontiersmen on the 8th of July 1938 when he joined the No 1 Troop at Pio Pio. At that time the Te Kuiti Unit was known as 'O'; Squadron
He eventually moved to Te Kuiti where, owing to the lack of transfer papers, he made out a second set and became a member of No 1 Troop,  of 'O' Squadron on the 27th of June 1951
He was promoted to Sergeant Major in 1961, holding that rank until 1964, proving himself a very worthy and efficient officer
With this lengthy service he was awarded the Long Service Medal in March 1964
Since his retirement in 1970 and up to the time of his death on 9th April 1976 he resided with his nephew and wife, Mr and Mrs SJ Stockly of Te Aroha
