For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Kruisstraat, on 14th and 15th March 1915, in repeatedly mending the telephone line under fire. Also near Ypres on 22nd and 27th April, 1915, Serjeant Faithfull remained out day and night laying and repairing lines continuously under fire. To do this he had to carry heavy reels of wire several miles on foot, but accomplished his task.
