THE GOLD PIONEER AXE AWARD
Regulations
1
The Legion of Frontiersmen New Zealand Command has instituted the Gold Pioneer Axe in
order to recognise exceptional and exemplary service to the New Zealand Command.
2.
The award will be properly known as the "Gold Pioneer Axe" which is described as a "Gold bushman's plumb axe"
3.
The award will be worn (one inch) 25mm above the right breast pocket on the Legion uniform, and shall replace the Pioneer Axe in silver
4.
There will be no more than five serving Legion members as holders of the Gold Pioneer Axe at any one time.
5.
Only one award of the Gold Pioneer Axe may be made in any one calendar year. Years of non-issue may not be accumulated.
6.
The Gold Pioneer Axe can only be awarded within New Zealand.
7.
The Gold Pioneer Axe may only be awarded once to any one individual.
8.
The recipient may use the post-nominal GPNR.

Unit Commanders may not make application for this award

Subject to these regulations the Gold Pioneer Axe is awarded by the members of New Zealand Headquarters, to a person who has rendered a continuous period of not less than fifty years service to the New Zealand Command.

The character and conduct of the nominee for the award shall be considered irreproachable and exemplary.

Every recipient of the Gold Pioneer Axe shall already be a Life Member of New Zealand Command.

A register of names of awardees shall be maintained by New Zealand Headquarters.

All awards shall be notified in Routine Orders

The Gold Pioneer Axe cannot be revoked once awarded
